Development and Sustainability
The remit of the Development and Sustainability team is managing developments in processes, legislation and policy, disseminating best practice information and facilitating procurement training for client institutions. The team is also responsible for ongoing management of APUC's Sustainable Procurement development programme, its trainee management programme and management of strategic projects. The team is also responsible for running the Procurement and Commercial Improvement Programme (PCIP) for the sector to assess procurement performance.
APUC has become the first full consortium member of Electronics Watch, a European organisation set up to drive improvements in labour conditions of IT supply chains, and provides a structure compliant with EU public procurement legislation to investigate, monitor and address labour issues in IT products supplied to public buyers. APUC's 42 full members can benefit from membership of Electronics Watch and further the collective push to improve labour standards. APUC, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Aberdeen were all Founding Members of Electronics Watch.
