Simion Bogdan
I started at APUC in 2024 via the trainee programme, which focuses on finding and nurturing the procurement talent for the HE&FE sector. The support I received for my development, while being part of the scheme and delivering the service to Forth Valley College, was truly outstanding.
Currently, I am based at New College Lanarkshire in an operational role, which involves dealing with a wide range of procurement projects. However, the support from APUC has not stopped, no matter the level, people can attend various training events which are held regularly, allowing either to gain new insights, refresh knowledge, or cover the gaps in skills. On top of this, by using the professional procurement competency framework, a tailor-made improvement plan was developed with the support from HR team to help me progress towards a leadership role. Besides the career growth possibilities, being with the company provides networking benefits, such as opportunities to attend various procurement industry gatherings, and other related public sector events. Not mentioning the cherry on top – the flexible working policies, which are extremely family-friendly and help with work-life balance.
In short, APUC is not a company looking to turn a profit, it is an organisation that values growth, collaboration, and well-being. So, if you are looking to make a difference by helping local universities and colleges make Scotland a better place, than APUC is where you should be.
